Letters To The Editor

Belmont will be crucial voice by Vonda Jump Norman

As a water and landscape scientist who is used to looking at all facts before making a decision, Patrick will be a critical voice in the Utah Legislature as they grapple with issues that concern our future: economic stability, housing costs, water, and air quality. His platform is all about the need for us to come together to talk about big issues when there is disagreement.

A vote of support for Belmont by Jean Lown

I support independent candidate Patrick Belmont for Utah House District 3. The 2024 session demonstrated why we need better balance in our legislature. District 3 is an extreme example of gerrymandering with the 13-mile gap between Logan and Richmond, carved out so current legislators could choose their voters rather than voters choosing their legislators.

Vote for someone who understands the climate by Pat Sadoski

It is time we look at our behaviors and begin to remedy our problems. That is why I am voting for Independent Patrick Belmont to represent me. Patrick is a climate scientist, educator and community.

Consider Patrick Belmont by Katie Lee-Koven

It would behoove us, as citizens, to consider what expertise areas we are missing amongst our legislators and vote strategically so that the right people have a seat at the table. Not surprisingly, we have a lot of successful businessmen and women, but we also need subject matter experts.

Vote Belmont for state legislature by Jack Greene

With the winter inversion (bad air) soon setting in, a shrinking Great Salt Lake, and continued political divide, we could use some help in the State House. Thinking candidate Patrick Belmont.

Vote for experts by Charles Ashurst

I've got nothing against having realtors and car salesmen in our Utah Legislature, but we also need people with credentials in such important fields as climate science, for example. That's why I support the candidacies of Patrick Belmont for Utah Legislator and also Nancy Huntly for Utah Senator in our state legislature.

Please vote by Nov. 5 by Parker Faux

The simple fact is this election will be decided by you, the undecided voter, the centrist, the apolitical, the disengaged, the disinterested.

Blaming Democrats for hurricanes is ‘crazy’ by Elizabeth Dennison

The positive thing is that there are a lot of experts out there who know what we can do now. There are solutions, if we just have the will to do what it takes to implement them. It will take giving up some things in our daily lives. I am encouraged by some of ideas and solutions new creative minds are coming up with.

Vote to protect our water by Shelly Nazer

His policies on water management, clean energy, and community building will have a positive impact across the region and throughout the whole state. If elected, I believe he will bring people together to find real solutions for the Great Salt Lake and the many other multifaceted challenges we face.

Vote for fair and equal representation by Carol Rosenthal

I am voting for independent Patrick Belmont for Utah House District 3. Patrick has demonstrated intelligence, authenticity, ethics, and integrity - all badly needed in the Utah Legislature.

Reader has some questions by Nick Eastmond

How can the voting districts used in this year’s election continue without following the Independent Redistricting Commission recommendations made in 2021? Isn’t this gerrymandering pure and simple?

Vote for Belmont by Angela Wyatt

Patrick has demonstrated a passion for addressing the challenges we currently face safeguarding our natural resources. His goals to protect public land and preserve open spaces, convert to clean energy, support clean air legislation, and protect our water show that he truly cares for those he would represent. His vision for a stronger, more inclusive Utah is one that resonates deeply with the values of our community.
